Khaosan road or Khao San road (Thai: ??????????) is a short road in central Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the Banglamphu (Phra Nakhon district) about 1 km north of the Grand Palace with Wat Phra Kaew. It has evolved over the years, the most profound worldwide example of a "backpackers' ghetto", with accommodation cheap compared to other areas of central Bangkok. Accommodation is of a mattress in a box "-style hotel, full western standard of luxury.

Many tourists Khaosan road use as a starting point for exploring the rest of Thailand, as there are many direct bus from the road to almost all major tourist destinations in Thailand, from Chiang Mai in the north and Ko Pha Ngan in the South. Many visitors also take advantage of the abundance of relatively cheap travel agents to arrange transportation for visas and in neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia, although many (if not most) travel agents are a type of fraud [citation needed] and Travelers would be advisable to use public buses instead of Thailand.

Handicrafts, paintings, clothes, pirate CDs, DVDs, fake educational diplomas, fake driver's licenses, food, second-hand books and many other helpful articles backpackers are among the common goods traded along the road.
